hey there i wonder if we are related you never know my grt grandfather is in this pic i sure of it he was my grancher giles he lived in the end house of railway terrace west side in blaina next to a shop ran by a mr selway oddly
The old gentleman with a moustache on the far left of this picture was the Band Master for many years and they won many prizes. He was James Henry Selway my Gt Gt Grandfather and he lived in Colliers Row, Blaina and worked in the ironworks, when he died in1934 the band played at his funeral as it marched down Abertillery Road to Blaina Cemetery according to the newspaper report the band played the Funeral march and Lead Kindly Light . He was 82 when he died and the oldest Bandsman in the locality.
Hi Ian the station was Malcom Jelly's end, got a photo of my Grand Father standing on the platform in front of the station sign and in the back ground is the old gas tanks, my Grand Father worked in the signal box at the station and lived at 1 station houses
Where was this station was it in coalbrooke or behind mr jelly the milk mans ?
