  8. I lived in Bargoed as a child as my Dad was a miner in the local pit. We lived with my uncle, Michael Walsh, who had a large field and kept goats. He died as a result of anthrax sometime in the 1950s. Does anyone know anything of him or any of his family? I believe his wife's name was Amy.

  9. Can you believe that there is now a very real risk that Lady Llanover's lovely little Welsh Church (Currently used by the congregation of St. Luke's Church in Wales) will be closed in January 2012? Doesn't it feel like another part of our heritage is being sidelined yet again?

  12. The person looking for copies of the Argus, you could try Bargoed library,they have a very good family history records or the archives down in Cwmbran they have loads of loads info down there.

I dare you all to not remember Skippy, he was the most regular pupil at Cwmcarn for many years, yes I talk of Skippy the Dog from the top of Llanfach, do credit to him he did more sentence in Cwmcarn than the rest of us did, most of us younger ones actually thought he was Ian Cockers dog..... comments

  14. Does anyone know about William Henry Sweete who was born around 1926 and lived in Bargoed? He was in the RAF during the war and in 1954 was living in Bournemouth. If you do know of him, could you please e-mail me. Thanks.

    Apparently this was THE paper to have in the early 1900s. Do you know if any copies remain arcived anywhere? Trying to trace anything about family in the area.

  21. i am trying to trace my family history and i belive my grandfather could have been born here in Bargoed. this is on a copy of his borth cirtificate but i am unable to confirm this. his name was william richard harte born 9 audg1919.his father i believe was called Michael and he also had a brother with the same name. would be greatful for any help, even if it you can put me in the right direction.thank you Mariea Harte
